Queer Visions, Woven Realities

TeHer Art Rugs is proud to present a vibrant collaboration with Eli Sudbrack, the Brazilian-born artist and founder of the internationally renowned collective assume vivid astro focus (avaf). Celebrated for their kaleidoscopic visual language, psychedelic energy, and bold expressions of queer identity, avaf brings their unmistakable aesthetic into the world of textile through the creation of two hand-knotted rugs—each a radiant explosion of color, pattern, and meaning.
These two rugs are more than decorative objects—they are woven portals into avaf’s ecstatic universe. Drawing from a vocabulary shaped by rave culture, spirituality, carnival excess, and gender fluidity, each design pulses with layered symbolism and emotional resonance. Vibrant, rebellious, and joyful, the rugs invite viewers to inhabit a space of radical imagination and freedom.
Hand-knotted in Nepal by TeHer’s master artisans, both rugs were crafted with exceptional precision using a richly layered mix of Tibetan wool, New Zealand wool, yak hair, and bamboo silk. Each material was chosen to enhance the intensity of the colors, the clarity of the motifs, and the overall immersive impact. The result is a pair of tactile, sculptural surfaces that radiate energy and identity.
With this collaboration, TeHer continues its mission to unite contemporary artists with centuries-old textile traditions—creating pieces that are as conceptually daring as they are materially exquisite. The avaf x TeHer rugs are not only works of art, but vibrant declarations of joy, resistance, and creative liberation.
