The Blue Jewel

An Art Deco facade in relief, in a blue so pale it reads almost as light. The composition is strictly symmetrical: a central spine with three discs, stepped blocks either side, a fan of rays above and slow waves below.

It is the language of Ocean Drive. The Park Central at 640, built in 1937 to Henry Hohauser's design, is known as the Blue Jewel for the colour of its neon — and this design carries that vocabulary down to the floor: the vertical spine, the stepped shoulders, the fan, the sea. Miami Deco, laid flat.

Hand-knotted in Kathmandu on a Tibetan loom, where a continuous yarn is looped around a gauge rod and cut row by row to release the pile. Graded 60, 80 or 100 knot on the Nepali trade's standard scale. Himalayan wool, over 1,400 colours. Made to order in 12 to 16 weeks in production, in your size, your palette and your pile height — every piece woven new, for one interior only.
