A celestial medallion carved into ivory, scattered with stars. Tone on tone, it gives a room the quality of a ceiling fresco laid on the floor — you notice it slowly, from the pile and the shadow rather than from colour.

Mapping the sky is among the oldest reasons to draw at all: the astrolabe, the star chart, the painted vault. Those charts were always as much ornament as instrument, and that is the register this design works in — a diagram of a sky nobody needs to navigate, drawn for the pleasure of the drawing.

Hand-knotted in Kathmandu on a Tibetan loom, where a continuous yarn is looped around a gauge rod and cut row by row to release the pile. Graded 60, 80 or 100 knot on the Nepali trade's standard scale. Himalayan wool, over 1,400 colours. Made to order in 12 to 16 weeks in production, in your size, your palette and your pile height — every piece woven new, for one interior only.
