Rust brushstroke figures move across ivory, caught mid-step. The most expressive design in the collection and the most immediately readable — a room with this in it has a subject.

The figure reduced to one continuous stroke is the oldest drawing there is and also the most modern: it survives on cave walls and it returns whenever painting decides that detail is in the way. Held in a single rust against a plain ground, the gesture is all that is left, and all that is needed.

Hand-knotted in Kathmandu on a Tibetan loom, where a continuous yarn is looped around a gauge rod and cut row by row to release the pile. Graded 60, 80 or 100 knot on the Nepali trade's standard scale. Himalayan wool, over 1,400 colours. Made to order in 12 to 16 weeks in production, in your size, your palette and your pile height — every piece woven new, for one interior only.
