ABOUT
Founded in 2001, avaf is an artist collective that adapts its formation to each project, working across diverse media such as installations, painting, tapestry, neon, video, and performance. Their vibrant works confront themes of gender, politics, and cultural codes, aiming to create immersive Gesamtkunstwerk experiences where the audience becomes part of the art.
Color plays a central role in their practice as a universal language, fostering inclusivity and joy, and serving as a tool for healing and connection. avaf challenges notions of authorship and artistic persona, emphasizing freedom, generosity, and collective creation.
Their works have been featured in major exhibitions worldwide, including Galería Marlborough (2024), Art Dubai (2024), the Thailand Biennale (2021), MoMA (2008), and the Whitney Biennial (2004). They were finalists for the Prêmio Pipa in 2018.
