Born in 1972 in Mexico City, Edgar Orlaineta is a renowned artist blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Holding an MFA in Sculpture from Pratt Institute, New York, he has exhibited globally, including at the Denver Art Museum and the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City.
Orlaineta’s work explores the intersection of art and design, emphasizing sensory and meditative processes. His practice reflects a deep engagement with materials and the cultural narratives embedded within them.
His latest collection, Incantations, after Alvin Lustig (2024), reinterprets Lustig’s iconic designs, celebrating the creative potential of craftsmanship and the independent intelligence of the human hand.
