Janaina Tschape I

Liquid Landscapes, Woven Worlds

TeHer Art Rugs is proud to present a singular collaboration with internationally celebrated Brazilian-German artist Janaina Tschäpe. Known for her dreamlike, organic compositions that blur the boundaries between body, nature, and emotion, Tschäpe brings her luminous visual language into the world of textile for the first time.
This unique rug translates one of her biomorphic paintings into a living textile—an undulating composition of curves and color that evokes ocean currents, inner landscapes, and the fluidity of memory. Poetic and deeply sensual, the piece reflects Tschäpe’s signature world: one where nature, femininity, and abstraction merge.
Hand-knotted in Nepal at 100 knots per square inch, the rug is crafted using a blend of New Zealand wool and Himalayan wool. These natural fibers were chosen for their softness, durability, and ability to hold subtle tonal transitions—allowing the forms to move like brushstrokes across the surface.
More than a rug, this piece is a textile painting—a sculptural meditation on transformation, emotion, and the ephemeral beauty of the natural world. Through this collaboration, TeHer continues its mission to translate contemporary artistic voices into timeless, handwoven expressions of craft and vision.
